Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions (FEQ’s) page.
31 QUEENS ROAD provides quality accommodation in a small intimate setting. It is our goal to always provide you with a warm welcome and to make your stay an enjoyable experience.
Some of the questions we’ve had over the past 15 years…
If you don’t find the answer to your question below send us an email (we will try our best to get back to you with 24 hours) or give us a call between 08:00hrs and 22:00hrs. Our contact details can be viewed via this link;
- Is Parking Available?
We have off-road parking available and also parking permits for roadside parking (at busy periods). There are also a pay and display and a multi-storey car park within walking distance.
- Can I arrive before 16:00hrs (4pm)?
Whilst we try to ensure all rooms are available by 16:00hrs you may certainly arrive before then. If your room is available you will be able to access your room or if not available you can collect your room keys, leave your luggage and park your car.
- Can I bring my dog to stay?
We are very sorry but we are not able to accommodate pets in our rooms. Unfortunately, these days many people suffer from allergies and react badly to the presence of irritants. Whilst we pride ourselves on our high levels of cleanliness the effect of ‘deep cleaning’ rooms as a result of concerns caused by known allergens would mean taking the rooms ‘out of service’ for extended times.
- What time must I check-out?
We ask all guests to vacate their rooms on the day of departure by 11:00hrs (11am). Luggage can be left for collection later in the day if that is helpful.
- Do you provide evening meals or packed lunches?
We don’t serve food after breakfast time but a variety of eateries are within easy walking distance; Costa Coffee, The County Arms and St James Tavern (both providing a comprehensive lunchtime and evening menus) and a self-service restaurant available to visitors at the hospital across the road (serving breakfast, lunch and dinner).
- How far is it to the city centre?
A downhill walk of 10 – 20 mins will take you into the heart of the city and there is a bus passing the end of the road going into the centre of Winchester and returning every 10 mins or so during much of the day. A purposeful walk would get you to the cathedral in 15 mins and to the train station in 10.
- Are you close to major transport links?
We are very close to Winchester Railway Station which is on the mainline route from London Waterloo (1 hour to/from Winchester), Southampton International Airport is 15 mins by train or a 25 min drive away and the International Cruising Terminal in Southampton Docks (as well as links to the Isle of Wight and France) are only 40 minutes away by taxi.
- Is the University of Winchester or the Royal Hampshire County Hospital nearby?
As we are located within the University campus we are minutes away from the teaching, business and administrative buildings of the University. The Hospital is quite literally across the road (the BMI Saram Road Hospital is only minutes away).
